July 11, 2007 - Murrieta, CA – Team Full Throttle Driver Development racer Cory Pollock wasn’t among the strongest in practice for the IKF Sprint / Shifter Grand Nationals at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in Buttonwillow, CA, but at the end of the TaG Final it was the 18-year old racer who was smiling on the podium holding his prestigious Duffy Award after an impressive five second victory over Rocky Moran Jr. Cory will finish out this season with one eye toward the future and his budding stock car career.
Pollock, a versatile driver who is as much at home on the dirt ovals in his Dwarf Car as he is on a road course in his DPK Birel Chassis, was relieved, excited, and a little bit surprised during post-race ceremonies. “This is just awesome,” exclaimed Cory. “We were two seconds off at one point in practice, and we just kept working on it and never gave up. I just have to say thank you to everyone who pitched in and helped over the last couple of days to get us back on the right track. Winning a Duffy against this type of competition has to be one of the most satisfying accomplishments of my career so far!”
Cory will be joining his Team Full Throttle NASCAR Driver Development teammates at the first annual Team Full Throttle Week in Mooresville, NC in October, which consists of several events designed to educate, inform, and prepare the program’s racers for NASCAR level opportunities. NASCAR Nextel Cup Star David Stremme and other NASCAR racers will provide coaching for the TFT racers in stock cars, members of the major Motorsports media will help the kids sharpen their skills with regard to radio and TV interviews and camera presence, and the second annual Driver Development Clinic (open to all drivers from all series) will take place on Thursday, followed by the annual TFT activity day on Friday with a bowling tournament featuring NASCAR Busch Series drivers and a team dinner that caps the whole week off with an awards ceremony.
