What Should You Look for in a Driver Development Program?

Program Depth: It’s important to look at the whole picture before choosing a Driver Development Program. Some offer off-track media training exclusively, while others just provide on-track coaching. What you should seek is a program that offers both in addition to various elements which afford a candidate the opportunity to develop as a person, while consistently honing their driving skills. Those three facets work hand-in-hand to build championship caliber drivers.

Credibility: One of the most critical factors to investigate when choosing a bona fide Driver Development Program is the credibility of its principles, staff and their relative experience to developing drivers. Don’t be fooled by marketing companies, media schools, online courses or resume services. A true Development company can facilitate in-depth peripheral training such as Leadership, Communications and Media savvy, in addition to intense on-track driver training by professionals who have done it successfully at the top levels of NASCAR.

Eligibility: If you are a hobbyist, who enjoys racing as much as fishing or bowling, and you are told that you are “accepted” into a Driver Development Program – run! A legitimate program will require proof of success, photos to assess marketability and a face-to-face meeting. True programs seek those who are capable of not just winning races, but have the potential to garner championships in their respective divisions and far into the future.

Together Everyone Achieves More

That is the basic principle under which Team Full Throttle (TFT) & driver development services (dds) operates. TFT & dds is about learning to lead on and off the track. It is essentially a group of some of the hottest young racing talents in the country brought together in a peer group that allows them to get to know and support each other in their efforts, learn together to establish the communications skills, work ethic, time management, and leadership qualities necessary to be attractive to potential race teams and sponsors.

Each team member receives training on and off the track, gaining marketing and public relations assistance as well as help with career planning and learning to deal with media, sponsors, and others who can help them achieve their goals.

The number of team members is growing, and each of them have been and continue to be successful on the track. The goal of dds is that it means something to those who are a part of it. It represents the right attitude on, at, and away from the track. That is what we look for here. It is not about just being a good racer. It is about being a good person. Maintaining good grades and exemplary behavior on a day to day basis are priority for our teammates.

Take a look at the current lineup of TFT members...we hope that soon you will be seeing some of them racing in some of the sport's highest levels. The pages on the site will tell you more about the team, the racers, and how to contact us if you think you have what it takes for us to work with you and help to promote your career as a driver or a mechanic.

Check back often for new developments and additions to the dds driver roster.
