The term "Driver Development" has become the hottest buzz in the world of motorsports. It refers to the process where teams seek out new talent for the future, and drivers enhance their stock in an effort to advance their careers. Most top-tier NASCAR teams have Driver Development Programs in place and are consistently trying to position themselves to attract the nations most qualified young talent.
Company President, Mike Calinoff, is undoubtedly the winningest Spotter in NASCAR. Over the past 16 years he has been to Victory Lane 114 times in the NASCAR Nextel Cup, Busch, Craftsman Truck, ARCA and Winston West Series. Included are 49 wins on the Modified short tracks of New York and New England.
From 2000 through 2005, Mike served as the Spotter for NASCAR Nextel Cup Champion, Matt Kenseth. Today, he is the Spotter and Business Manager for Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender David Stremme.
Mike has worked and won with drivers such as Stremme, Kenseth, Ricky Craven, Chase Montgomery, Jimmy Spencer, Bobby Gerhart and Eric Norris; as well as Modified standouts Reggie Ruggiero and Rick Fuller. He has a very keen sense of what it takes to make it to the top. Mike continues to be a popular figure with the motorsports media. He can be heard often with Claire B. Lang on XM Radio's "Dialed In" and on the nationally syndicated "John Boy & Billy Big Show". This past year, Mike was featured on NBC's "Today Show".
Over the past several years, Mike has taken an interest in the Driver Development process -- counseling many drivers, including NASCAR Busch East Series Rookie of the Year, Sean Caisse and ASA Late Model Series point leader, Kelly Bires. He currently works with 16-year-old, Bruce Hibbs Jr., the Delaware sensation who is making his mark in the 600 Sprints.
In an effort to enhance the company's presence in the sport, Calinoff has incorporated the talents of one of the industry's most notable Development Specialists, Tom Baker and his successful "Team Full Throttle" program. Baker will serve as the Director of Scouting for dds and will also maintain responsibility of leading the company's Personal Enhancement Program.
About the Team Full Throttle Driver Development Program
Team Full Throttle is about learning to lead on and off the track. It is essentially a group of some of the hottest young racing talents in the country brought together in a peer group that allows them to get to know and support each other in their efforts, learn together to establish the communications skills, work ethic, time management, and leadership qualities necessary to be attractive to potential race teams and sponsors.
Each team member receives training on and off the track, gaining marketing and public relations assistance as well as help with career planning and learning to deal with media, sponsors, and others who can help them achieve their goals.
The number of team members is growing, and each of them have been and continue to be successful on the track. The goal of Team Full Throttle is that it mean something to those who are a part of it. It represents the right attitude on, at, and away from the track. That is what we look for here. It is not about just being a good racer. It is about being a good person. Maintaining good grades and exemplary behavior on a day to day basis are priority for our teammates.
Take a look at the current lineup of Team Full Throttle members...we hope that soon you will be seeing some of them racing in some of the sport's highest levels. The pages on the site will tell you more about the team, the racers, and how to contact us if you think you have what it takes for us to work with you and help to promote your career as a driver.
